Overview
The Malaysia Master Ball League is the most important VGC competition for players in Malaysia, where TPC is responsible for the circuit since 2020.
It is the first live event in the world to be played in the new platform Pokémon Champions!
The ruleset is Regulation Set M-A, and it is played with open team lists including Natures.
A little bit of history
Malaysia has been one of the regions of the official TPC circuit since June 2020, and it was part of the Oceania region of the official TPCi circuit before that. It has hosted multiple major events, including TPCi-era Regional Championships and Special Events, and TPC-era National Championships. Malaysia’s greatest VGC success were the National Championships won by Zarif Ayman in Singapore in 2015 and by Kevin Ngim, Wan Aqil, Gary Ng and Lee Jin Yang in Malaysia in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025, respectively.
The most recent tournament held in Malaysia was the 2025 Malaysia Master Ball League, hosted in Kuala Lumpur and played with Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet in the VGC Regulation Set G in April 2025. The finals saw 2023 Malaysia Championships quarterfinalist Lee Jin Yang defeat 2020 Kuala Lumpur Regional Champion Ismat Myron to win his first National title!
