Overview
The Lima Special Event is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the third Special Event and the seventh Regional-level event of the 2024 season in the Latin American circuit, being played concurrently with the last event of the season in Mexico City.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set G, and it is played using open team lists.
A little bit of history
Peru has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCi circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events, Regional Championships and old-era National Championships. Peru’s greatest VGC successes are the top 8 finish achieved by Dorian Quiñonez at the 2017 World Championships and the champion title achieved by Renzo Navarro in the online-era Players Cup IV in 2021.
The most recent tournament held in Peru was the 2023 Lima Special Event, played with the VGC Regulation Set C in May 2023. The finals saw Chilean Matías Díaz defeat 2020 LAIC finalist Javier Valdés to win his first major title!
American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
