The players that achieved the following results in the Pokémon Players Cup IV Qualifier (a best-of-one challenge-format tournament held on 9–11 April under Series 8 rules) qualified for the Pokémon Players Cup IV Regional Online Qualifiers:

• Top 256 European players
• Top 256 North American players
• Top 256 Latin American players
• Top 128 Oceanian players

Those players then competed in the Pokémon Players Cup IV Region Qualifiers, which for the first time in Players Cups was played on Swiss rounds and then a double-elimination top 16, all with open teamsheets for each region (North America, Europe and Latin America, which had 9 Swiss rounds, and Oceania, which had 8). The following players then qualified for the Global Finals:

• Top 4 players from the North America Region Qualifier
• Top 4 players from the Europe Region Qualifier
• Top 4 players from the Latin America Region Qualifier
• Top 4 players from the Oceania Region Qualifier

These sixteen qualified players competed in the Pokémon Players Cup IV Global Finals, a double-elimination tournament with open teamsheets, in best-of-three matches to crown the Pokémon Players Cup IV champion.

Additionally from the cash prizes, the top player from each region (North America, Europe, Latin America and Oceania) will receive an invite to the Pokémon Global Exhibition event that will be held in October.

As a final note, Australian Darcy McCarthy (frog!) qualified for the Global Finals but was removed from the event due to discrepancies in their Pokémon Trainer Club account.
