NAIC Travel Award standings
This event counts towards the North America International Championships (NAIC) Travel Award standings. It is the only Regional-level event in Latin America to count.
Top 4 players at the end of this period (20 February to 16 April 2023) will receive a $3500 Travel Award ($5000 for minors), while players ranked 5th to 8th will receive a $1000 Travel Stipend.

Players must be ready in the venue by 11 March 2023 at 10:00 local time (13:00 UTC) for the players meeting. The tournament starts right thereafter with the Swiss rounds.
The top cut will be played on the following day, 12 March 2023 at 09:00 local time (12:00 UTC).

This event is part of the 2023 official TPCI circuit and thus it rewards Championship Points (CPs).
As a participation goodie, all players will be provided a Pokémon Regional Championships promo card and a playmat.

Overview
The Natal Regionals is an official TPCI Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the first Regionals of the 2023 season in the Latin American circuit, and also the only one in the NAIC travel award race. It was originally the only Regionals announced in Latin America until São Paulo and Santiago Regionals were announced in February.
Although initially announced as the only TPCI Regional-level event in this season to be played in a single day, this was later changed on 7 February to the usual schedule of Swiss rounds on Saturday and top cut on Sunday.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set B and it will be played using open team lists.
A little bit of history
Brazil has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCI circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events and all editions of the Latin America International Championships. Brazil’s greatest VGC successes are the top 16 finish at the 2019 World Championships and the second place at the 2022 North America International Championships achieved by Gabriel Agati.
The most recent tournament held in Brazil was the 2020 Guaíba Special Event, played in the VGC Series 2 ruleset of Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield in February 2020. The finals saw Argentinian Federico Turano defeat Brazilian Raul Gioielli.
It is the first-ever major event to be held in or around Natal or the region it is located, Rio Grande do Norte!
American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
Sign-up instructions
Sign-ups for the event are done through RK9 Labs platform, and you will first need to set up your RK9 profile and have a Play! Pokémon Player ID. All players must comply with the Play! Pokémon COVID-19 Protocols.
Sign-ups are R$110 for Masters players and R$70 for Seniors and Juniors players, and they open on 31 January 2023 at 19:00 local time (22:00 UTC). There were 30 Masters slots and 15 Seniors/Juniors slots.
After the initial player cap was reached, 80 additional Masters slots and 10 additional Seniors/Juniors slots were announced to open on 1 February 2023 at 19:00 local time (22:00 UTC).
If the player cap is not reached, sign-ups close 2 hours before the event starts.
For registered players, team lists must be submitted 1 hour before the event starts, by 11 March 2023 at 9:00 local time (12:00 UTC). Paper team lists can also be found here.
Spectator passes are free and can be purchased through RK9 Labs.
