Overview

The Recife Regional Championships is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the first Regional-level event of the 2027 season in the Latin American circuit.

It is the first event in Latin America to be played in the new platform Pokémon Champions!

As per the Brazil ratings of the game, the Junior version of Pokémon Champions is used in this tournament by all Junior and Senior players under 14.

The ruleset is yet to be announced, and it is played using open team lists.

A little bit of history

Brazil has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCi circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events and all editions of the Latin America International Championships. Brazil’s greatest VGC successes are the top 16 finish at the 2019 World Championships and the 2 International Championship second places achieved by Gabriel Agati, as well as another International Championship second place achieved by Thiago Lattanzi.

The most recent tournament held in Brazil was the 2026 Campinas Regional Championships, played in Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet with the Regulation Set I in May 2026. The finals saw 2-time Buenos Aires Regional Champion Sebastián Escalante defeat Brazilian player Vinícius Junqueira to win his third Regional Championship title, over 9 years after his previous one!

It is the first major VGC event ever held in the state of Pernambuco!
