Structure
This tournament is the fifth edition of the Hatterene Series and is intended to welcome women, non-binary and agender people into the Pokémon VGC community and to also create a safe space for them within the community.
The Hatterene Series is organised by Alyssa Smith (Temporal) and Terran Seifert (Terrbear), who also managed the stream coverage for the first time. Victory Road did not participate in this edition’s organisation.
The format of the tournament, Spikemuth Cup Doubles, is a fun format used at some side events of the 2022 season’s Regionals, and its ruleset is based on the typical Sword & Shield formats, but not allowing Restricted Legendary Pokémon nor the use of Dynamax or Gigantamax.
For this fundraising event, Hatterene Series collaborated with the American Civil Liberties Union, a non-profit organisation who is fighting to advance racial justice and systemic equality, protect and expand voting rights, defend immigrants’ rights, protect LGBTQ equality (including trans youth), advance criminal justice reform, and defend reproductive rights. More than $500 were collected at Tiltify throughout the tournament weekend!
Streaming
Some of the matches were broadcast live featuring Maeve O’Rourke, Hayden McTavish and Kira as casters. You can find these matches at Hatterene Series’s Twitch channel!
