Overview
The Lima Special Championships is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the ninth Regional-level event and second Special Championships of the 2026 season in the Latin American circuit.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set I, and it is played using open team lists.
It is the last major event in the world to use Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, as the competition continues in Pokémon Champions!
A little bit of history
Peru has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCi circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events, Regional Championships and old-era National Championships. Peru’s greatest VGC successes are the top 8 finish achieved by Dorian Quiñonez at the 2017 World Championships and the champion title achieved by Renzo Navarro in the online-era Players Cup IV in 2021.
The most recent tournament held in Peru was the 2025 Lima SC, played with the VGC Regulation Set H in October 2024. The finals saw 2024 Lima SC finalist Sebastián Rodríguez defeat 2023 Lima SC Champion Matías Díaz to win his first major title!
