Overview
The Frankfurt Regional Championships is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the first Regional-level event of the 2026 season in the European circuit.
It is played with VGC Regulation Set H, using open team lists. This returning ruleset was last used in a European tournament in December 2024!
A little bit of history
Germany has been part of the Europe region of the official TPCi circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Regional Championships, old-era National Championships and the 2019 and 2022 Europe Internationals. Germany’s greatest VGC success happened when Michael Kelsch reached the finals of the 2023 World Championships.
The most recent tournament held in Germany was the 2025 Stuttgart Regional, also played with the Regulation Set H in November and December 2024. The finals saw 2016 Birmingham Regional finalist Eden Batchelor defeat 2021 Players Cup III quarterfinalist Francesco Pio Pero to win their first major title!
The last time there was an event in the state of Hesse was the 2022 Europe International Championships (EUIC), played wiht Pokémon Sword & Shield in the VGC Series 12 ruleset in April 2022. The finals saw then-3-time Regional & SC Champion Eric Rios defeat 2018 Senior OCIC Champion Oliver Eskolin to win his first International Championship title right after winning the 2022 Liverpool Regional less than one month before!
As for Regional-level events, the last one held in Frankfurt am Main was the 2019 Frankfurt Regional, played with Pokémon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon in the VGC19 Sun Series ruleset in September 2018. The finals saw Italian Matteo Agostini defeat 2018 OCIC Champion Alessio Yuri Boschetto to win his first major title!
