Overview
The Malaysia Master Ball League is the most important VGC competition for players in Malaysia, where TPC is responsible for the circuit since 2020. It is the first-ever Master Ball League since it was introduced for the 2025 season in the different Asian circuits.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set G, and it is played using open team lists. Contrary to previous tournaments in Malaysia, this time the open team lists do not include the Natures.
A little bit of history
Malaysia has been one of the regions of the official TPC circuit since June 2020, and it was part of the Oceania region of the official TPCi circuit before that. It has hosted multiple major events, including TPCi-era Regional Championships and Special Events, and TPC-era National Championships. Malaysia’s greatest VGC success were the National Championships won by Zarif Ayman in Singapore in 2015 and by Kevin Ngim, Wan Aqil and Gary Ng in Malaysia in 2022, 2023 and 2024, respectively.
The most recent tournament held in Malaysia was the 2025 Malaysia Premier Ball League, hosted in Petaling Jaya and played with the VGC Regulation Set H in December 2024. The finals saw 2022 Malaysia National Champion Kevin Ngim defeat 2022 Malaysia National quarterfinalist Dennis Sia to win his first PBL title!
The last time a National-like tournament was held in Malaysia was the 2024 Malaysia Championships, also hosted in Petaling Jaya and played with the VGC Regulation Set G in June 2024. The finals saw 2022 Malaysia National finalist Gary Ng defeat fellow countryman Ng Chee Woon to win his first National title!
