Overview
The Santiago Regionals is an official TPCI Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the sixth and last Regional-level event and third Regionals of the 2023 season in the Latin American circuit, and, pending an announcement, very likely the fifth and last in the travel award race for the 2024 season’s first IC.
It is the third of four TPCI Regional-level events and the only Regional of the 2023 season to be played in a single day.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set C and it will be played using open team lists.
A little bit of history
Chile has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCI circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events, Regionals and old-era National Championships. Chile’s greatest VGC success was the second place achieved by Javier Valdés at the 2020 Latin America International Championships.
The most recent tournament held in Chile was the 2022 Santiago Regionals, played in Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield with the VGC Series 12 ruleset in June 2022. The finals saw Peruvian Diego Gutiérrez defeat fellow countryman Orlando Luna.
American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
Sign-up instructions
Sign-ups for the event are done through Eventrid platform, being the only Regional Championship of this season not to use Rk9 Labs for slot sign-ups, although all participating players then receive an Rk9 Labs link to fill out their registration details. All players must comply with the Play! Pokémon COVID-19 Protocols.
Sign-ups are $33,600 CLP and they open on 1 May 2023 at 20:00 local time (2 May at 00:00 UTC).
After the cap was reached, a new wave of sign-ups was announced to open on 11 May 2023 at 20:00 local time (12 May at 00:00 UTC).
Players should submit their team lists through Rk9 Labs two hours before the events starts, by 4 June 2023 at 08:00 local time (12:00 UTC).
If the player cap is not reached, sign-ups close 2 hours before the event starts.
For registered players, team lists must be submitted 1 hour before the event starts, by 11 March 2023 at 9:00 local time (12:00 UTC). Paper team lists can also be found here.
Spectator passes are free and can be purchased through RK9 Labs.
