Trick Magic is an official Online Competition featuring single battles. It is the sixth globally available Online Competition in PokƩmon Scarlet and PokƩmon Violet games, the third with a custom format and the first played in single battles.
A little bit of history
Online Competitions are usually a part of the casual gameplay, but they have been featured in the official circuit for some years now. They are one of the few tournaments in which all world regions play together, and they can even grant National invites in TPC regions and Championship Points in TPCi regions.
The most recent Online Competition (also with a custom format) was the Kitakami Prologue, played in October 2023 featuring double battles. The custom ruleset allowed for any PokƩmon in the Kitakami regional PokƩdex. First place was earned by 2017 World Champion Ryota Otsubo, who used this Rain team to finish at a rating of 1896. Ryota defeated fellow Japanese Hiroki Tsujikawa, who used a team centered around Assault Vest Grimmsnarl, Wellspring Mask Ogerpon, Bloodmoon Ursaluna and Chandelure to finish at a rating of 1865.
AmericanĀ James Evans, theĀ 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated BrazilianĀ Gabriel AgatiĀ in the NAIC finals.
