Overview
The Bogotá Special Event is an official TPCI Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC. It is the fifth Regional-level event of the 2023 season in the Latin American circuit, and, pending an announcement, very likely the fourth in the travel award race for the 2024 season’s first IC. It was announced on 26 April 2023 along the other Latin American Special Events.
It is the second of four TPCI Regional-level events of the 2023 season to be played in a single day.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set C and it will be played using open team lists.
A little bit of history
Colombia has been part of the Latin America region of the official TPCI circuit for many years. It has hosted multiple major events, including Special Events and old-era National Championships. Colombia’s greatest VGC success is the fourth place achieved by Juan Naar in the online-era Players Cup II in 2020.
The most recent tournament held in Colombia was the 2019 Bogotá May Special Event, played in Pokémon Ultra Sun & Pokémon Ultra Moon with the VGC19 Ultra Series ruleset in May 2019. The finals saw Colombian Cristian André Rodríguez defeat Chinese Xu Yihui.
American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
