Structure
This event marks the second-ever National Championships held in Hong Kong, after the event held in 2016, won by Or Kei Yin. This is also the first offline event held in Hong Kong since The PokƩmon Company took over this region in June 2020, and the first offline event in the region since the Hong Kong Regionals in May 2019. Everyone could play this tournament, but only players with a Hong Kong passport would receive Worlds invites.
With a cap of 64 entries, players would face each other in up to 6 Swiss rounds, while the best 8 players would advance to a single-elimination bracket. All matches would be played as best-of-three.
The winner would receive a Day 2 invite to the 2022 World Championships, as well as a Travel Award, while the rest of the top 4 players would receive Day 1 invites.
