Overview

The 2025 Global Challenge I is an official Online Competition featuring double battles. It is the tenth VGC-relevant Online Competition in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet games for players in the TPCi regions, the seventh Global Challenge of these games and the first in the 2025 season.

It is played with VGC Regulation Set G.

A little bit of history

Online Competitions are usually a part of the casual gameplay, but they have been featured in the official circuit for some years now. They are one of the few tournaments in which all world regions play together, and it generally grants National invites in TPC regions and Championship Points in TPCi regions.

The most recent Online Competition for players in the TPCi regions was the 2025 Grand Challenge III, played in December 2024 with the VGC Regulation Set H. First place was earned by 2023 Worlds semifinalist Federico Camporesi, who earned a rating of 1813 and obtained 170 CP. Federico beat American player JackPTK, who earned a rating of 1798 and obtained 160 CP.

The last time a Global Challenge was held was the 2024 Global Challenge III, played in March 2024 with the VGC Regulation Set F. This Online Competition also awarded CP for players in TPCi regions; invites to the Japan National Main Tournament for the top 150 players in Japan; invites for the Trainers Cup online stage for the top 50 players in South Korea; Taiwan National invites for the top 128 players in Taiwan; and Hong Kong, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand National invites for the top 64 players in each respective region. First place was earned by 2022 World Champion Eduardo Cunha, who earned a rating of 1818 and obtained 160 CP. Eduardo beat 2-time International finalist Davide Cognetta, who earned a rating of 1817 and obtained 130 CP.

American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
