Overview
The Baltimore Regional Championships is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the first Regional-level event of the 2025 season in the world, and specifically in the North American circuit.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set H, and it is played using open team lists. It is the first major Regulation Set H event in the world.
A little bit of history
The United States has been part of the North America region of the official TPCi circuit since the very beginning, also being home to the TPCi headquarters. It has hosted multiple major events, including Regional Championships, old-era National Championships, all editions of the North America International Championships and most World Championships (only excluding 2013, 2022 and 2023). The United States’ greatest VGC success are the four World Championship wins achieved by Ray Rizzo (2010, 2011 and 2012) and Wolfe Glick (2016), not even counting being the home country of 6 Senior Division and 6 Junior Division World Champions too.
The most recent tournament held in the United States was the 2024 World Championships, held in Honolulu, HI, and played in the VGC Regulation Set G in August 2024. The finals saw Italian Luca Ceribelli defeat Japanese Yuta Ishigaki to be crowned as the new Pokémon VG World Champion!
As per Regional-level events, the most recent tournament held in the United States was the 2024 Los Angeles Regional, played in the VGC Regulation Set G in May 2024. The finals saw American Montana Mott defeat 2023 Hartford Regional finalist Ryan Haig to win his first Regional Championship title!
It is the first major VGC event ever held in Maryland!
