Overview
The Perth Regional Championships is an official TPCi Regional-level event for Pokémon VGC, TCG and Pokémon GO. It is the third and last major event of the 2024 season in the Oceanian circuit.
The ruleset is VGC Regulation Set F, and it is played using open team lists.
A little bit of history
Australia has been part of the Oceania region of the official TPCi circuit since they were established. It has hosted multiple major events, including Regional Championships, old-era National Championships and all editions of OCIC from 2017 to 2023. Australia’s greatest VGC success is Nicholas Kan‘s 2017 Junior Division World Championship win, while in the Masters Division his brother Christopher Kan won the 2017 North America International Championships and Sam Pandelis reached that same year the finals at the 2017 World Championships.
The most recent tournament held in Australia was the 2024 Melbourne Regional, played with the VGC Regulation Set F in February 2024. The finals saw Australian Kiran Singh defeat New Zealander Trent Sayer to win his first Regional Championship title!
The last time there was an event in Perth was the 2023 Perth Regional, played with the VGC Regulation Set B in March 2023. The finals saw Brit Taran Birdee defeat 3-time Perth Regional Champion Alister Sandover to win his first Regional Championship title!
American James Evans, the 2018 Senior Division World Champion, defeated Brazilian Gabriel Agati in the NAIC finals.
